TGaS® Advisors Analytics Experts Urge Pharmaceutical Management Sciences Professionals to Help Shape Industry Future

East Norriton, Penn., April 27, 2009 – The role of analytics in pharmaceutical decision-making is more critical than ever, with little room for guesswork in today’s challenging environment. Management Sciences professionals are key to these decisions, according to TGaS Advisors’ Bob Shewbrooks and Jeff Wojcik, featured presenters at the Pharmaceutical Management Science Association Annual Conference General Session, April 27, 2009, in San Diego, Calif.
Immediately following the conference keynote address, Shewbrooks and Wojcik are presenting “A Forward-Looking View: How Management Science Professionals Can Help Shape the Industry’s Future.” Vice Presidents and Management Advisors at the benchmarking and advisory services firm, Shewbrooks leads Marketing Sciences and Wojcik heads Sales Operations Practices.
Senior pharmaceutical leadership considers Management Sciences critical to the industry’s future, increasing resources for Analytics more than any other function, according to the TGaS Advisors 2009 Annual State of Commercial Operations Benchmark. This is particularly true for mid-tier and specialty pharma. A cross-section of 28 pharma and biotech companies participated in the Benchmark, which also reveals that more than 50% of total Commercial Operations resources are being allocated to Analytics, including Marketing Science, Sales Analytics and Managed Markets. Resources within Management Sciences will focus primarily on Market Analytics and, among large-tier companies, Managed Markets Analytics in particular.
