TGaS Advisors’ Gerard Moderates Featured Panel at CBI Pharma Leadership Summit on Impact of Innovation on Sales Operations

East Norriton, Penn., August 28, 2008 – The “virtual rep,” Internet-based sales models and other innovations are beginning to reshape the pharmaceutical sales model into one more closely resembling banking and telecom. Stephen E. Gerard, Managing Partner of TGaS Advisors, a pharmaceutical commercial operations benchmarking and advisory services firm, is moderating a panel discussion on the impact of innovation on the pharmaceutical sales model, capabilities and spending at the Center for Business Intelligence (CBI) Leadership Summit, September 8-9, 2008, in Philadelphia. The panel is a highlighted session at the conference, “Evolving the Pharma Sales Model,” focusing on strategic targeting and non-traditional access methods to extend reach and influence to physicians.

The high-level industry panel features Deborah Reynolds, vice president, Sales Operations, Pfizer Inc. ; Taso Goujiamanis, senior director, Sales Operations, King Pharmaceuticals; Howard Kaplan, senior director, Sales Support and Analytics, Commercial Operations, AstraZeneca; and Sunny Longordo, senior director, Sales Analytics, Ortho-McNeil Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

The commercial operations executives will review the current landscape of the pharmaceutical sales model with particular attention to how companies are innovating for the future. Gerard will present TGaS Advisors benchmark data on innovation across three tiers of pharmaceutical companies – large, mid-tier and specialty – reflecting information drawn from the majority of the top 50 companies. Panel members will analyze the impact of these innovations on the sales operations model and assess their effect on capabilities and spending.
