MATRIX Healthcare and TGaS Advisors Partner on Patient Support Program Benchmark

Toronto, CA; E. Norriton, Penn., US. August 17, 2017. The growing importance of Patient Support Programs (PSP) is widely recognized by Canadian life sciences organizations, according to MATRIX Healthcare Strategists, a Canadian healthcare consulting firm to the biopharmaceutical industry. MATRIX Healthcare partner Ian McQueen noted, “Patient support programs are critically important in Canadian healthcare, particularly given the lag time between drug and reimbursement approvals.”

To help companies learn more about how their peers handle PSP and plan for future demands, MATRIX is partnering with TGaS® Advisors, a benchmarking and advisory services firm for commercial organizations in the US life sciences industry. Through the jointly established Canadian Life Sciences Network (CLSN), the two firms are fielding a PSP Benchmark designed to find out what companies are doing at both strategic and operational levels to meet current and future demand. In addition to core program elements, including print materials, patient advocacy, copay access and caregiver support, the benchmark covers operations management, vendor management, data procurement and governance.

“Our goal is to help companies serve the patient community better by providing more effective support services. The PSP benchmark is an important step in that effort,” said McQueen.

Companies who enlist in the benchmark become members of the Patient Support Program Network. The Network also includes advisory services provided by MATRIX professionals and peer-to-peer support, providing access to other CLSN members with similar issues and concerns.

Tim Wohlgemut, who heads TGaS Insights, sees the growing success of the PSP Network as a response to the specific needs of the Canadian market. “TGaS succeeded because US operations executives wanted to know ‘what good looks like.’ CLSN taps into that same hunger for information and connection in Canada.”
