Sarepta Therapeutics - Associate Director, US Payor Contracting

The Position

Sarepta is currently seeking strategic thinkers who know how to build long-term relationships while getting the deal done. The role will be responsible for the successful negotiation, implementation and management of contract strategies, contracts and contractual relationships with various payors (including PBMs, MCOs, Part-D and Medicaid) to maximize access to Sarepta's products. The incumbent will work closely with Market Access account managers, Legal, Finance, External contract customers, and other business partners such as Distributors, and Specialty Pharmacies to develop contracts.

Primary Responsibilities include

  • Uses broad expertise and knowledge of payor strategies and relations, together with unique skills and success concluding contract negotiations with various payors to further the company's strategic objectives of increasing plan access, improving reimbursement rates and structuring value based contracting arrangements, where applicable.
  • Work with Market Access Account Managers to design a business case including financials for bids and proposals for various payors or Specialty Pharmacies.
  • Responsible for guiding the business case through Sarepta's internal approval process.
  • Draft and submit the bid or proposal to the applicable party.
  • Negotiate contractual terms, conditions, financial proposal and issues related to the agreement with Account Management and applicable Payor/Specialty Pharmacy.
  • Evaluate contract proposals and complete analyses demonstrating account performance in relation to contracted terms and conditions.
  • Conduct analyses of market changes, dynamics and customers to support the US Commercial strategy/goals and policy development.
  • Reviews and analyzes potential contracts for financial impact, cost benefit and utilization.
  • Correlates analytical findings from marketplace data to organizational objectives. Interprets company-wide policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for collaborating with Sales & Marketing and Managed Care teams to maximize growth opportunities through third-party contractual relationships and physician partnerships.
  • Work with key stakeholders internally to establish strategies and is responsible for implementing contract solutions using various analytical tools.
  • Focuses specifically on market opportunities and risks; communicates findings to leadership and uses data to create and implement strategic plans leading to new contractual relationships and the renegotiating of contractual terms to increase revenue.

Education and Skills Requirements

  • Life-science degree (MD, PharmD, or relevant PhD) with at least 5 years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience, or MBA with at least 8 years of experience, including experience with Government Pricing.
  • Must be highly motivated with strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks to effectively prioritize and meet personal and team goals.
  • Must be able to produce high-quality, accurate work under time constraints.
  • Strong collaboration skills capable of influencing internal and other decision-makers.
  • Ability to manage complexity where both strategic and tactical skills are required.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with a demonstrated ability to identify business issues/opportunities.
